BACKGROUND AND TRAINING
Michael Venezia is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then continued at the University receiving his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The University of Alabama, a CACREP accredited institution afforded him hours of clinical work and experience. Michael has consistently worked and volunteered with at-risk children of all ages through day/summer camps. He also spent many hours donating his time with church organizations where he fostered a caring and supportive environment in order to help those in need.
Michael has inpatient and outpatient clinical experience in numerous settings, working with a wide-range of ages and diverse backgrounds. He has extensive experience with children and adolescents in regards to depression, anxiety, and oppositional or defiant behavioral issues. Additionally, Michael has worked with clients for behavior modification, adjustment issues, parent/child conflicts, as well as many other behavioral issues. He also works with adults suffering with depression, anxiety, family conflict, grief and loss, and career conflict issues. Michael uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent- Child Interactive Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches to help clients achieve a sense of relief and satisfaction when dealing with life’s difficulties. Michael has extensive trainings in regards to LGBTQ therapeutic trainings as well as ethical considerations for the LGBTQ community.
