Office Information

At Alabama Psychological Services Center we provide our clinicians with a complete and qualified staff in order to ensure that their practices operate professionally and efficiently. Phones are answered between 8:30am and 5pm Monday through Thursday and between 8:30am and 3pm Friday. Messages can be left 24 hours a day, and will be returned within 24-48 hours. For emergencies, please call 911. 

New Patients

For information about our services or to schedule an appointment, please call 256-533-9393, extension 218. Our Intake Specialist will assess your reason for the appointment, verify insurance, match you with the clinician with the appropriate expertise, and schedule your first appointment. Alternatively, your doctor can fax a referral directly to our office (fax 256-533-9690), and we will contact you to schedule the appointment. New patients are requested to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow for time to complete the required forms, or click here to download and complete paperwork prior to your arrival. Be sure to bring photo identification and your insurance card as well.

Scheduling and Canceling Appointments

To cancel or reschedule an existing appointment please call extension 210. If prompted, please leave a message with your name, appointment time and counselor’s name. Messages are checked frequently and will be returned in the order in which they are received. 24 hours notice should be given to cancel or reschedule a counseling appointment, and 72 hours notice should be given to cancel or reschedule a testing appointment. Failure to comply with our policy will result in a fee of $40.00 to $100.00, which will be due before your next appointment.

Non-Covered Services

APSC specializes in providing assessment and therapy for clients. We do not specialize in providing court testimony or becoming involved in custodial agreements. We will collect a $300.00 retainer for any therapist who is asked to testify or is subpoenaed by an attorney to appear in court.  The patient/responsible party will also agree to pay for therapist’s time ($150.00-$300.00 per hour), including, but not limited to, preparation of documents, travel, time blocked out of office, and any legal fees incurred by therapist as part of involvement in legal action.

During the course of treatment a therapist may be requested/required to perform additional services (professional communications, forms, reports, records requests, conferences, etc.) on the patients behalf. Services such as these will not be covered by insurance. The patient/responsible party will be liable for charges incurred for these services.  Service charges will range from $30.00-$160.00 depending on level of complexity and time involved.

Billing and Insurance

We accept  many insurance policies and will file claims on your behalf. However, mental health policies can be quite different from medical policies. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company for details related to your specific insurance policy. To see a list of insurance companies that we accept click here.
