BACKGROUND AND TRAINING

Scott McGee is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama and a member of the American Counseling Association.  He is a graduate of Auburn University and Troy University.  Scott obtained his Master of Science degree in Community Counseling in 2006 from Troy University where he was a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society.  He has experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families.  Scott specializes in trauma counseling, anxiety, and PTSD.  He has clinical experience working with children and adolescents experiencing behavioral issues, adjustment issues, and issues related to self-esteem.  Scott also has been successful providing therapy treatment to survivors of physical and sexual abuse.  He has provided direct care services in partial hospital settings as well as outpatient settings such as The National Children’s Advocacy Center.

SERVICES

Scott has been trained in evidenced-based practices such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).  Scott uses evidence-based practices as well as other strength-based approaches to treat multiple issues including low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and parent/family issues.  His areas of expertise include:
